LAJKONIK's first public performance was in 1998 at the Tucson Heritage Experience Festival held in downtown Tucson, and since that time we have entertained audiences at many local events.

Our dance group consists of several families who share a love for Polish customs and folklore. Our aim is to develop in our children and in those who we entertain an appreciation for the traditions, the dances and music of Poland.

Lajkonik took part in the 2011 Rzeszow Festival in Poland.(http://www.festiwal.rzeszow.pl) We also particpated in the "Swiat pod Kyczera" festival in various cities around Poland. A monthly mass in Polish at St. Cyril's brings together many members of Tucson's Polish community, many of whom have donated costumes, money and supplies and strongly supported our efforts.

Although we are independent, St. Cyril of Alexandria Catholic Church and the Arizona Polish Club provide an anchor for our group by providing rehearsal facilities and encouragement.

Lajkonik is also supported by a generous grant from the Tucson Pima Arts Council
